First Team Training

Our first team training was this past Saturday in the Presidio. We took a 2 hour hike along the coastal trail, which also included a 20 minute session of Tai Chi/Yoga type stretching, balance and core work. Saw several members of TNT cycling and run teams that morning, but I think our group was the loudest with the "Go Team" cheers.

We were lucky, cuz when we started hiking, the rain had stopped. It ended up being perfect hiking weather! The views of the GG Bridge & Bay were breathtaking. I never get tired of this area. I think all of my training is really starting to pay off. Going uphill wasn't too bad and I was able to talk and hike uphill at the same time! If it wasn't so muddy, I would've run the path, since it was the same trail as my SF long run last year.

Not including mentors & captains, our team has grown to 43 people! Yay! Its also a great group of people too. After the hike, coaches Mary & Sigrida gave a "gear clinic". I already have the skis, boots & poles, but I need to make another trip to REI for goggles, long underwear and thicker gloves. Fortunately, I can wear most of my run & hike clothing. I may even get a ski rack for the SUV---wow, I'm sooooo sporty---HA!

Brand New Day

I know this blog is supposed to be about my xc ski training, but it is election night and I've been obsessed with refreshing cnn.com's realtime election tracker to check on senate & house races. I am temporarily breaking away from my obsession to blog. It is still early in the evening and election results are still coming in, but I think tomorrow will be a brighter, shiny, new day!

If nothing else, the upside is that no more TV or radio campaign ads for awhile!! I can almost recite them line by line in my sleep.

Back to skiing......wish for snow!!!
